SUBJECT: Introduction of Revised Ordinance
Regulating Alarm Systems and False Alarms
The Board on April 17, 1984 deferred action on the proposed
ordinance regulating alarm systems and false alarms in order to afford
staff of the fire protection districts, Sheriff-Coroner and County
Counsel opportunity to review said ordinance.
In an April 24, 1984 memorandum County Counsel transmitted
the revised ordinance noting several changes in the ordinance with
respect to the definition of "alarm systems" and a requirement that
requires alarms to be equipped so as to turn off 20 minutes after being
activated.
In its discussion of the ordinance it was brought to the
attention of the Board that requests have been received from represen-
tatives of the industry for a postponement of the introduction of the
ordinance pending their review. Board members considered the requests
and were in agreement to introduce the ordinance this day but to defer
adoption of same to May 22, 1984 so that it may be further studied.
IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the aforesaid ordinance is
INTRODUCED, reading WAIVED and May 22, 1984 is FIXED as the date for
adoption.
