This type of project emphasizes the development of strategies, planning, and the coordination of events, involved individuals, groups or other entities rather than a defined set of repetitive duties or tasks. The project manager's tasks will be directly influenced by the current key event. Currently, the project is centered on the protection and acquisition of an abandoned railroad right of way while, concurrently, initial planning is being conducted for the next key event, a study of transit alternatives. Certain administrative functions will occur throughout the duration of the project. 28 HRS/WEEK PROTECT AND ACQUIRE RIGHT OF WAY Assist in development and application of land use controls. Coordinate land use controls with other planning departments (2 counties and 7 cities). Ensure compatibili..ty of .land use changes on adjoining properties. Develop engineering details for special studies in areas of .conflict. Develop and .coordinate proposed joint public usage with other public agencies and utilities. Develop and coordinate joint strategies and efforts with Alameda County Select consultants and direct consultants efforts. Develop and implement acquisition strategies. Review property appraisals and title reports. Negotiate with property owners. Presentations to the public including City Councils, homeowner groups and transportation related agencies. 2 HRS/WEEK STUDY TRANSIT ALTERNATIVES Determine State and Federal guidelines. Decisions are made establishing goals, priorities, schedules and strategies. GREATEST SKILL, KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITY The most important aspect of this position is the responsibility involved in turning a loosely defined long-range objective into reality. Previous related experience along with direction and guidelines is not readily avail- able.
