HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05151984 - 1.17 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on May 15, 1984 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None �a SUBJECT: National Police Week WHEREAS National Police Week was established by Presidential Proclamation in 1960 to recognize the hazardous work, duties, and responsibilities of our nation' s peace officers; and WHEREAS in conjunction with this week, May 15 is observed each year as Peace Officers Memorial Day to commemorate the sacrifices and commitment of the officers; and WHEREAS crime rates remain high in our state and nation despite intensified law enforcement efforts; and WHEREAS improved law enforcement techniques and increased citizen involvement are necessary to insure reduction of the crime rate in communities across the country; and WHEREAS citizen support of law enforcement serves to unite our efforts to reduce crime; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby PROCLAIM the week of May 13-19, 1984 as "National Police Week" and May 15, 1984 as "Peace Officers Memorial Day" in Contra Costa County. 1 hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
