the week of April 9 through ) Resolution Number 84/2,03.
April 16 as Foster Children )
Week )
WHEREAS, Foster Children Week calls attention to the vital
needs of foster children; and
WHEREAS, these needs now constitute the Rill of Rights
for Foster Children; and
WHEREAS, in this area there are hundreds of foster children,
who through no fault of their own, have been deprived of a
normal home relationship involving love, shelter, and other
needs which are the basic needs of all children; and
WHEREAS, social agencies, both public and private, and
dedicated foster parents are attempting to provide these children
with a temporary and permanent environment that will help tl+em
become the responsible citizens of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, they are finding it increasingly difficult to
continue to provide the basic needs of these children, such as
medical and dental care, education, food, clothing, skilled socia]
work; and
WHEREAS, these ends can be met by concerted public effort on
the part of all citizens, government and private agencies, legislators,
and others responsible and concerned for the future of children.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THF COUNTY
OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA PROCLAIMED the week of April 9 througr
April 16, 1984 as Foster Children Week, and we call upon all
citizens to volunteer their talents and energies to make real the
provisions off- the Bill of Rights for Foster Children and thus sunport
the vital role played by foster parents in enabling these children to
develop into mature, responsible, productive adults.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of April , 1984 by those members
of the Board of. Supervisors present
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foreaoing. is a true and correct copy
of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of. Supervisors
on April 3, 1984 .
