HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04241984 - 2.1 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on April 24,1984 _ , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisors Schroder , McPeak ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Revised Ordinance Regulating Alarm Systems and False Alarms The Board received an April 17, 1984 memorandum from County Counsel transmitting the revised ordinance regulating alarm systems and false alarms and noting changes in the ordinance provisions relating to automatic dialing systems applicable to fire districts as well as other special districts. This being the time to consider the introduction of the revised ordinance, Supervisor Fanden referred to an instance that occurred in her Supervisorial District (and reported to her) relative to a burglar alarm ringing for a long period of time and the problems incurred in getting the alarm turned off. Supervisor Fanden indicated that she did not believe the ordinance adequately addressed problems of this type, and recommended that it be further reviewed by the County Administrator and the Sheriff-Coroner relative to providing for punitive damages in the cases where there is evidence of irresponsibility. Board members being in agreement, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the County Administrator and the Sheriff—Coroner are REQUESTED to review said ordinance in light of the incident referred to above. 1 hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
