Adopted this Order on April 24,1984 _ , by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Torlakson
NOES: None
ABSENT: Supervisors Schroder , McPeak
ABSTAIN: None
SUBJECT: Revised Ordinance Regulating Alarm
Systems and False Alarms
The Board received an April 17, 1984 memorandum from County
Counsel transmitting the revised ordinance regulating alarm systems
and false alarms and noting changes in the ordinance provisions
relating to automatic dialing systems applicable to fire districts
as well as other special districts.
This being the time to consider the introduction of the
revised ordinance, Supervisor Fanden referred to an instance that
occurred in her Supervisorial District (and reported to her) relative
to a burglar alarm ringing for a long period of time and the problems
incurred in getting the alarm turned off. Supervisor Fanden indicated
that she did not believe the ordinance adequately addressed problems
of this type, and recommended that it be further reviewed by the
County Administrator and the Sheriff-Coroner relative to providing
for punitive damages in the cases where there is evidence of
irresponsibility.
Board members being in agreement, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED
that the County Administrator and the Sheriff—Coroner are REQUESTED
to review said ordinance in light of the incident referred to above.
1 hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of
an action taken and entered on the minutes of the
Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
