HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04201984 - 2.2 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF-CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on March 20, 1984 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers., Fanden, -Schroder, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor McPeak ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Election Campaign Reform Ordinance The Board on March 6, 1984 having referred to the Assistant County Registrar comments received from Mr. Ted Nelson and the League of Women Voters with respect to inclusion in the Election Campaign Reform Ordinance provisions for disclosure of the nature of the business (not obvious from the name of the company) engaged in by the employer of a campaign contributor, and the levying of a fine against a contributor (or candidate)' who files a disclosure state- ment late; and Lon Underwood, Assistant County Registrar , in a March 16, 1984 memorandum to the Board having advised that the proposed amendment to the County Election Campaign Reform Ordinance as written by County Counsel follows the recommendations of the Ad Hoc Committee and would not present any problems to his department, and having submitted his comments relative to contributions of office space and/or equipment, issuance of a press release at the close of the nomination period as opposed to a paid public notice, and enforcement responsibilities assigned to the County Clerk and District Attorney; Board members having expressed agreement to amend the Campaign Reform Ordinance to incorporate the changes as recommended; IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the aforesaid amendment to the Campaign Reform Ordinance is APPROVED in principle and County Counsel is REQUESTED to draft an appropriate amendment for presentation to the Board on March 27, 1984. 1 hereby certlty that this Is a t:ue and correct copy of an action taken and entered or.tho minutos of the Board of SuparVISOr,an tha date Shown.
