HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04101984 - 1.18 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on April 10 , 1984 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers , Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson , NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: In the Platter of Proclaiming) RESOLUTION NO. 84/222 the Week of April 8, 1984 as) LIBRARY WEEK in Contra Costa) County ) WHEREAS the year 1984 marks the 75th anniversary of the enactment of the County Free Library Law in California, and WHEREAS this Law made possible the establishment of the Contra Costa County Library, and WHEREAS from these beginnings the Contra Costa County Library has grown to a priceless resource of a Central Library and twenty branches offering one million books and the services of a skilled and dedicated staff, and WHEREAS the residents of Contra Costa County continue to use this resource by borrowing 3,000,000 books and by asking 300,000 reference questions per year, and WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors has traditionally recognized the importance of libraries with a proclamation of National Library I•leek in April of each year, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the week beginning April 8, 1984 be declared Library Week in Contra Costa County in dual observance of the 75th anniversary of the County Free Library Law and of National Library Week.
