Adopted this Order on March 6 , 1984 , by the following vote:
AYES: Powers, Fanden, McPeak, Schroder, Torlakson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
RESOLUTION NO. 84/130
SUBJECT: Recognition of Marie Daniels
WHEREAS Marie Daniels was elected to the San Pablo City Council
in March of 1976 and reelected in March of 1980 ; and
WHEREAS Marie Daniels served as Mayor in 1979-80 and Vice Mayor
in 1978-79 and 1983-84; and
WHEREAS her leadership qualities , competent decision making
ability and calm presence in difficult council situations has been
exemplary; and
WHEREAS she continues to serve the community and the county
as Director of the San Pablo Discovery Center; and
WHEREAS she has long been active in many civic, community and
church organizations through which she serves the needs of young
people ; and
WHEREAS she has chosen not to seek reelection for a third term
on the San Pablo City Council and is being honored at a testimonial
dinner on Thursday , March 15 , 1984;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of Contra Costa County that Marie Daniels be highly commended for her
service to the citizens of the City of San Pablo as Mayor and
Councilwoman and for her devotion and contributions to the overall
benefit of the West County community as an employee of Contra Costa
County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County charge Marie Daniels with enjoying her life, her two
children and her five grandchildren to the fullest extent and to
live all of her future years in good health and happiness .

RESOLUTION NO . 84/131
SUBJECT: Recognition of Myron Bird
WHEREAS Myron Bird has resided in the Community of Kensington,
Contra Costa County, since 1939 where he joined the Kensington Volunteer
Fire Department as a Volunteer Firefighter in December 1941 ; and
WHEREAS Myron Bird served as a Volunteer Firefighter until his
election to the Board of Fire Commissioners in 1947 where he served until
January 1984, except for five years between 1955 and 1960 when he chose not
to run due to the pressures of his family business ; and
WHEREAS Myron Bird's accomplishments as President and Director of
the Kensington Fire Protection District Board include realization of a joint
Fire and Public Safety facility, a program to replace fire annaratus , improved
relationships between fire personnel and management, and the Kensington Fire
Department's taking the lead in joint operations of all !.Jest County fire
agencies; and

WHEREAS after the passage of California 's Proposition 13, Myron
Bird's active involvement in a community effort to ensure adequate funding of
fire protection resulted in the development and establishment of a Special
Fire Tax;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County that Myron Bird be commended for his dedicated service to his
community which has provided the best possible fire protection for its citizens ,
and that Myron Bird's involvement on the Kensington Fire District Board is
greatly appreciated and will be sorely missed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Suoervisors of Contra Costa
County charge Myron Bird with relaxing and enjoying his retirement years with
the knowledge that his contributions and sacrifices for his community will long
be remembered.
