SUBJECT: Authorization Contract with the State of California for Completion
of the Problem Oriented Medical Information 'System Project
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS) Q BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
Approve and authorize the Acting Health Services Director to enter into a
contract with the State of California in the amount of $77,177.67 for the --
period July 1, 1983-April 6, 1984 under which the county will receive funds
from the State for the purpose of completing final work on the Problem
Oriented Medical Information System (PROMIS) project and additionally
authorize the Acting Health Services Director to enter into the sub-contracts
specified in the State contract in the amounts authorized by the State.
BACKGROUND
The State of California has recommended a final contract for the PROMIS
project in Contra Costa County for the purpose of closing out the project.
The Health Services Department has recommended completion of this final
work on the PROMIS project.
The PROMIS project was initiated under state funding in FY 81/82 through a
line item appropriation in the State Budget. Subsequent contracts were
funded from the original appropriation. Actual implementation of the system
would require additional funding from the State. After an extensive review,
the State has determined that they cannot provide this additional funding.
The contracts proposed here will cover the maintenance and close-out costs
incurred by the County. This will conclude all project activities and
obligations.
The sub-contracts are for the PROMIS Corporation and individuals with
specific expertise and experience with the PROMIS System. They will engage
in close-out activities related to this contract. These individual sub-
contracts include the following:
Mark Branning $ 81420.00
Brian Ellinoy $ 11020.00
Genevieve Gilvoy $ 524.00
PROMIS Corporation $22,769. 67
The remainder of the funds received from the State will pay for county staff
and associated expenses which have been incurred in the PROMIS Project.
