SUBJECT: COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE EXEMPTION FOR UTILITIES
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACI03ROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
Information: I was recently surprised to learn that utilities are exempt
from the planning review process. I learned of this exemption while following up on
a concern by residents over a PG&E dehydrator plant recently constructed on Minnesota
Avenue near Brentwood. Such structures with environmental impacts can now go in without
public input or notice of the projects.
Recommended Action: 1 would like to refer to the Planning Department for
their immediate review the questions raised in the attached news article pertaining
to the PG&E dehydration plant.
