PURSUANT TO ORDINANCE CODE SECTION 24-2.402 IN
ADJOURN= REGULAR SESSION AT 9:30 A.M., THURSDAY,
MARCH 30, 1978, IN ROOM 107, COUNTY ADMINISTRATION
BUILDING, MARTINEZ, CALIFORNIA.
PRESENT: Chairman R. L. Schroder, presiding;
Supervisors J. P. Kenny, N. C. Fanden,
W. N. Boggess, E. H. Hasseltine.
ABSENT: None.

Direct Primary )
The Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County RESOLVES THAT:
Effective March 20, 1978, Chapter 53 of the Statutes of 1978'
became law. This Chapter requires this Board to call and cause to
be conducted a special election and to consolidate it with the
1978 Direct Primary Election. At the special election there shall
be proposed tO the electorate of this County the following question:
"Shall the county superintendent Elected
of schools be elected by the voters /—�
or appointed by the county board of
education?" Appointed

This Board hereby calls a special election on the foregoing
measure and orders that the election be consolidated with tete 1978
Direct Primary Election to be held on June 6, 1978.
This Board authorizes and directs its Clerk to immediately
provide a certified copy of this resolution to the County Clerk.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on March 30, 1978 by unanimous vote of the
Board.

In the Matter of
Executive Session.
At 9:15 a.m. the Board recessed to meet with its
negotiators in Executive Session in Room 108, County Administration
Building, Martinez, California (pursuant to Government Code Section
54957.6) to discuss the status of negotiations with United
Professional Firefighters, Local 1230.
The Board reconvened in its Chambers at 10:10 a.m. and
the Chairman announced that the position statement of the Board
with respect to the firefighter issue would be released later in
the day.
Thereupon the Board adjourned to meet in Regular Session
on Tuesday, April 4, 1978 at 9:00 a.m.
