that John Lacey of Port Costa hos failed to file in his office within the time re-
quired by Ordinance of this Board or at all, a petition praying for a license to

' It is, on motion duly made and carried, by the Board ordered that the District
Attorney of Contra Costa County, and the Sheriff be and they are hereby notified to

see that the saloon of said John Lucey is kept closed until such time as Mr. Lacey
procures a liquor license.
The said order is passed by unanimous vote of the Board.
In the Satter of Grade Crossing
at Bay Point.
It is on motion of Supervisor Buchanan, by the Board ordered that Thomas D
• Johnston, District _ttorney of Contra Costa County, be'and he is hereby requested t
make application to the Railroad Commission of the State of California, for a grade
' crossing at Bay Point, over the Southern Pacific Railroad Tracks.
The said order is pealed by the unanimous vote of the Board.

at Panama-Pacific International Exposition.
It is on motion dilly made and carried, by the Board ordered that T.D.
Johnston, District Attorney be and he is hereby authorized to prepare proper Resole -
ion for this Board to adopt in order to legally dispose of old lumber and materials

In the matter of Plans and Sp•icifications
for furnishing materials and labor and placing
Wearing Surface on Division No. 1 of the Tunnel
Road, and Division No. 2 of the Tunnel Rand.
R.',. Arnold, County Surveyor of Contra Costa County, presents to this Board
plans and specifications for the furnishing of materials and labor and placing a
wearing surface on Division No. 1 of the Tunnel Road, a distance of three miles and .P
60 feet;
Thereupon, it is on motion duly made and carried by the Board ordered that sai
plans and specifications as prepared by R.R.Arnold, County Surveyor of Contra Costa
County, be and the some are hereby adopted by this Board as plans and specifications
for bidders to present bids for the construction of said :pork as called for under

said plans and specifications.
AYso said R.R.Arnold, County Surveyor of Contra Costa County, presents plans
and specifications for the furnishing of materials and labor and placing a wearing

surface on Division No. 2 of the Tunnel Road, a distance of seven miles and fourteen
hundred feet.
Thereupon, it is on motion dulymade and carried, by the Board ordered that .
said plans and specifications for the furnishing of materials and labor and placing y;
a wearing surface on Division No. 2 of the Tunnel Road, for a distance of seven mile
and fourteen hundred feet, be and the same are hereby adopted as plans and specific -
ions for bidders to present bids for the construction of said work of placing a
wearing surface on Division No.2 of said road.
5�hereupon, it is further ordered that the clerk of this Board be and he is Ahereby authorized to advertise in the Contra Costa Courier, Daily Gazette and Daily

Standard, for two weeks for bids to be presented to this Board, on Friday June 30th NA
1416, up to the hour of 11 o'clock A.W. for the performance of said work under said

It is further ordered that each bidder at time of filing his bid, must accom-
pany same :;ith a certified check on some solvent beak or a cash deposit in a sum a�
equal to ten Der cent of amount bid, conditioned that if the contract is awarded

the party submitting the accepted bid, will enter into a contract or contracts and
furnish such bonds as may be required, within five days after noticeof Award or
failing so to do, the amount of such check or cash deposit to be forfeited to-the
County of Contra Costa, as liquidated damages for such failure.
All checks to be made payable to the order of the clerk of the Board of
Supervisors of Conga Costa County.The said Board reserves the right to reject any

It is on motion duly made and carried, by the Board ordered that the
contract be and the same is hereby awarded to said City Street Improvement Company
for the following sums, to wit: Proposition No. l: Surfacing per sq. ft, $'M.
It is further ordered that said City Street Improvement Company shall
furnish good and su'ficient bonds in the following sums, to wit: fifty per cent of
whole contract price for the payment of all claims of materialmen for furnishing y
materials or supplies for said lurk contracted to be done, and of all mechanics
and laborers who may perform work or labor thereon of any kind, and a bond in fifty
per cent of the whole contract price for the faithful performance of said work and
for furnishing material and labor and placing a wearing surface on said road, in

School District in the total amount of Fifteen thousand (415,000) dollars with int-
erest thereon at the rate of five nor cent per annum, payable annually, both prin-

issued and sold for the purpose of raising money for the erection and construction �1
of a High School Buili:ing and the equipping of the seine with necessary furniture
and apparatus and for the purpose of improving High School grounds of said High. '.

1916, an election was duly called in the said San Ramon Valley Union High School

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County has awarded two :;
contracts for the repairing, re-constructing or re-building of those certain exist-
ing .gain line roads knorm as Division No. 3 and Division No. 4 of the County High- !�
way, to wit: Beginning at the county boundary,line east of Byron and thence running
westerly for a distance of 8.14 miles, and also beginning at the incorporate'limits
of the town of Antioch and running to the incorporate limits of the town of Pitts-
burg, a distance of 5.49 miles, and,
S7F_EP.EAS, it appears to this Board from the contracts awarded for the repair-
ing, re-constructing or re-building of said existing main line roads, that the toted
' cost of the workto be done under said contracts and incident thereto, v311 exceed
the sum of '5000; and,
7lHEREAS, said roads are existing main line roads in said County and are in
excess of three miles in length each, and the cost of repairing,-re-constructing or
re-building of said roads will be less than to acquire or conetruot new roads betwee
the same points, and,
WHEREAS, the public convenience and necessity demand the repairing, re-conetr et-
ing or re-building of said existing main line roads, and, J .
7MEP.EAS, it appears to this Board that the cost will be too great to be paid
out of any of the road funds of Contra Costa County;
TRERB-FORB BE IT RESOLVED„and this Board does hereby find th,.t said roads
above described arc existing main line roads and that said roads are in excess of
three miles in length each, and that the repairing, re-constructing or re-building
of said existing main line roads is a public necessity and a general public benefit .°
and that the cost of repairing, re-constructing or re-building of same will be less
than to acquire or construct a ne,r road between the same points, and that the cost
thereof will exceed the sum of 0,5000, to wit: the sum of $149,000. 5.
This Board does hereby determine to repair= re-construct or re-build said }
existing main line roads extending from the County boundary line east of Byron "£
westerly for a distant of 8.14 miles, and also beginning at the boundary line of
the incorporate limits of the town of Antioch and running westerly to the incorporst
limits of the town of Pittsburg, a distance of 3.49 miles, and to charge the cost - -
thereof to the General Fund of the County of Contra Costa.
BE IT FORTH RESOLVED and it is hereby ordered that all claims for said
work of repairing, re-constructing or re-building of said existing main line roads
under the two contracts awarded to O'Brien Bros. and claims of County Surveyor and.

to canvass the returns of the Primary Election held throughout the County of
