HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA - 05101988 - 1.24 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Congratulating ) John Swett High School for ) Resolution No. 88/ 258 being Designated a California. ) Distinguished School ) WHEREAS on April 28, 1988 the John Swett Unified School District was officially notified that a second school in their district has been designated a California Distinguished School, namely the John Swett High School; and WHEREAS the selection was made by a team from the California State Department of Education, confirming the outstanding evaluations of the school; and WHEREAS there are 477 students including 129 Freshmen, 128 Sophomores, 113 Juniors, and 107 Seniors; and WHEREAS the racial/ethnic composition is 3.9% Asian or Pacific Islander, 9.2% Filipino, 10.4% Hispanic, 8.8% Black/not of Hispanic origin, and 67.7% White/not of Hispanic origin; and WHEREAS the staffing includes 2 administrators, 22 full-time teachers, 8 part-time teachers, 3 full-time aides, 1 part-time aide, 1.5 counselors, 1 part-time librarian, 3 custodians, and 4 secretaries; and WHEREAS the John Swett Unified School District is dedicated to developing receptive, motivated, and self-directed students who have mastered the basic skills and have a positive image of self and the learning process; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California, hereby congratulates the John Swett High School for being designated a California Distinguished School by the State of California; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors commends all the students, parents, staff and Board of Directors for part in achieving this distinguished award. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the unanimous vote of the Board on the tenth day of May 1988. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on date aforesaid.
