HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA - 05101988 - 1.23 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Congratulating ) Dr. Raymond Kan ) Resolution No. : 88/257 Moraga Citizen of the Year, 1988 ) WHEREAS Dr . Raymond Kan has been named Moraga' s 10th Citizen of the Year; and WHEREAS- Dr. Raymond Kan, and his wife , May, moved to Moraga in 1966 where they raised their two sons , Lyle and Mitchell , and; WHEREAS Dr. - Raymond Kan opened his optometry practice in Moraga and immediately plunged into volunteer works for the benefit of his new home town; and WHEREAS Dr. Raymond Kan joined in organizing the Moraga Rotary, became its president in 1970 and is currently active in the club ' s Polio Plus worldwide polio vaccination program; and WHEREAS Dr. Raymond Kan established with other Moraga resi- dents Parks for Moraga, an independent organization dedicated to raising money for the new Town' s parks ; and WHEREAS Dr. Raymond Kan.was elected to the Moraga School Board in 1968 and served a productive term; and WHEREAS Dr. Raymond Kan -was one of the founders of the Moraga Chamber of Commerce, served as its first ptesident in 1979 , helped .build its membership to over 160 businesses and profession- als and chaired the Chambers first and successful fundraiser, the Moraga Chamber of Commerce Golf and Tennis Tournament in 1986 ; and WHEREAS Dr. Raymond Kan continues to contribute to his community and County as a member of the St . Mary' s College County Committee , raising money for scholarships for Contra Costa County students. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California, hereby CONGRATULATES Dr. Raymond Kan on his selection as Moraga ' s Citizen of the Year, and COMMENDS his generous donation of his time and talents to the improvement of his community and County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board extends to Dr. Raymond Kan its best wishes for much further civic and professional accomplishment . Passed and adopted on May 10, 1988 , by unanimous vote of the Board members present . I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on t date aforesaid.
