THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on May 19, 1987 , by the following vote:
AYES; Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, Torlakson, McPeak
NOES; None
ABSENT; None
ABSTAIN; None
SUBJECT; MIA Sales Tax Transfer Proposal
Phil Batchelor, County Administrator, commented on the
State MIA disengagement proposal, and noted that the Governor has
proposed the inclusion of AB 8 programs in the sales tax transfer
proposal.
Mark Finucane, Health Services Director, advised that in
his opinion the MIA disengagement proposal should be supported only
with amendments calling for re-examination after 2 years, and that
the inclusion of the AB 8 programs would be a mistake. He stated
that there would be a County Supervisors of California (CSAC)
Executive Committee meeting on May 22, 1987, amd that CSAC had
requested that the Board take a position on the MIA disengagement
proposal.
The Board hereby FINDS, by at least a 2/3 vote of the
Board, that the need to take action on this request arose after the
Board' s agenda was posted, as specified in Government Code section
54954. 2 (a) .
As recommended by Mr. Finucane, IT IS BY THE BOARD
ORDERED that a position is ADOPTED opposing the proposed inclusion
of AB 8 programs in the MIA sales tax transfer proposal.
