ACCEPTED resignation of Lyle Wolff from the Fish and Wildlife Study Committee and APPOINTED Leroy Bateman to fill the unexpired term. 3 ACKNOWLEDGED receipt of report on the chemical por- tion of the Water Hyacinth Control Program and fixed April 19, 1$83 for final action on the Committee' s recommendations; authorized County's representative to advise the State that the County will allocate $10,000 if the State will initiate a mechanical removal program; and authorized a letter be sent to the Cities and the CC Water District inquiring if they would be willing to help fund a mechanical removal program. 4. TABLED recommendation 3 deferred from April 5, 1983 Water Committee Report relating to the establish- ment of an Advisory Committee for the Study of the merger of EBMUD and CC Water District, as it is no longer pertinent. FINANCE COMMITTEE: APPROVED the recommendations of the Finance Commitee on the following subjects: 1. $28,000 appropriation to Riverview Fire Protection District for fire protection services for East County volunteer fire districts. 2. Agreement with waste disposal site operators for the payment of $90,000 to finance the County Solid Waste Enforcement Program in fiscal year 1982-1983. 3. Assessment of fee for solid waste management services performed by the Public Works Department. E. EXTRA ITEMS BY BOARD MEMBERS AND STAFF: 1. (POWERS) AUTHORIZED County Administrator to com- municate with Contra Costa Legal Services Foundation to investigate pursuing its handling of SSI appeals as a means of securing additional funding for the Foundation. 2. (POWERS) REAPPOINTED Manuel A. Mello, as the nominee of the City of San Pablo, to the West County Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners. 3. (FAHDEN) ACCEPTED the resignation of Mary Jo Anne Main from the Task Force on the Employment and Economic Status of Women. 4. (FAHDEN) REQUESTED the County Administrator and the County Sheriff-Coroner to investigate the feasibi- lity of charging a fee to the homeowner when the Sheriff responds to burglar alarms. 5. (McPEAK) REQUESTED Human Services Advisory Commission to sponsor a public forum on the proposed State Block Grants and their relationship to recently enacted Federal ,Block grants. The Commission is requested to return to the Board with its recommendations following said forum. 6. (COUNTY COUNSEL) APPROVED agreement with John Swett Unified School District for attroney services for FY 1983/1984. 7. (SCHRODER) DECLARED April- 17-23, 1983 as *International Faire Competition Week." 8. (TORLAKSON) REQUESTED County Administrator to com- municate with the Concord Naval Weapons Station to update information relating to the proposed closing of Port Chicago Highway and Waterfront Road. 9. (TORLAKSON) REQUESTED County Administrator to write a letter on the Board' s behalf commending the Contra Costa Crisis & Suicide Intervention Services for initiating a support line for unemployed workers. 10 . (PUBLIC WORKS) GRANTED permission to close Parker Avenue between Pacific Avenue and San Pablo Avenue for band practice on April 14 & 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 9 :00 P.M. 11.
