HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09092008 - 2008-598 IN THE MATTER OF HONORING RESOLUTION NO. 2008/598 SAVE MART AND CONGRATULATING IT ON BEING NAMED LABOR-to-LABOR's 2008 CORPORATE LEADERSHIP AWARDEE WHEREAS, Save Mart Supermarkets started as one grocery store in Modesto in 1952, and now includes nearly 250 stores in Northern and Central California and Northern Nevada; and WHEREAS, Save Mart brands and stores include S-Mart Foods,Lucky, and FoodMaxx; and WHEREAS, Save Mart runs major distribution centers in Lathrop, Merced, Turlock, Roseville and Vacaville;and WHEREAS, Save Mart has a long history of community caring andgiving back to the communities it serves; and WHEREAS, Save Mart's community contributions include Save Mart CARES, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization that gives to the arts, recreation, education, and sports; and Save Mart SHARES, a card-based program where shoppers can support local organizations and agencies in the humanities, arts,recreation, education, and sports; and WHEREAS, Save Mart partners with the March of Dimes, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the City of Hope, and Keep California Beautiful; and WHEREAS, Save Mart sponsors numerous charitable events and fundraisers in the communities it serves, maintaining its tradition of supporting its neighborhoods; NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors honors Save Mart for its dedicated community commitment and partnership and congratulates it for being named the 2008 Labor-to-Labor Corporate Leadership Awardee. �1 FEDERAL D.
