HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09092008 - 2008-597 IN THE MATTER OF HONORING RESOLUTION NO. 2008/597 PHIL TUCKER AND CONGRATULATING HIM ON BEING NAMED LABOR-TO-LABOR's 2008 COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDEE WHEREAS, Phil Tucker is a 28 year member of the UFCW 5; and WHEREAS, Phil Tucker has served as a member of the Contra Costa Labor Council's Labor-Enviro Committee for the past 8 years;and WHEREAS, Phil Tucker is Project Director of the California Healthy Communities Network, a group of Northern Californialaborunionsand community organizations committed to sustainable planning and development; and WHEREAS, Phil Tucker worked closely with the UFCW Local 5 in its efforts to limit "Big Box" expansion in Martinez, going, on to become the point person;_for similar efforts in Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, Phil Tucker was invited by other communities including Napa, Solano, and Alameda counties to help with their efforts to guide and direct Big Box development, prompting his leadership of the California Healthy Communities Network; and WHEREAS,'`Under Phil Tucker's leadership, the Healthy Communities Network expanded to include Hercules, Antioch, Concord, Oakley, San Ramon ,Vallejo,Merced, Suisun,' Atascadero, Soledad, and Salinas;and WHEREAS,Under Phil Tucker's leadership, the Healthy Communities Network has expanded its mission to advocate for public transportation, social justice, and broad sustainable growth NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors honors Phil Tucker for his devotion to the communities and residents of Contra Costa County and congratulates him on being named the 2008 Labor-to-Labor Community Service Awardee.
