In the Matter of RESOLUTION NO. 2008/102
Congratulating Sate Pablo Police Chief Joseph Aita on being nafued the San Pablo
Chamber of Conirnerce 2007 Man of the Year
WHEREAS, Chief Alta was hired as a San Pablo police officer in 1975 when lie was 21; and
WHEREAS, during his years oil the force, Chief Aita has worked in nearly every position including patrol, .
dispatch, support services, property and evidence, investigations, training; special investigations, and
administration; and
WHEREAS, Cllief Alta is a graduate of California State University; Sacramento; and the FBI National
Academy in Quantico;Virginia.
WHEREAS, Cllief Alta is currently a guest lecturer at the Contra Costa Law Enforcement Training Center
oil Ethics and Professionalism, and a P.O.S.T. certified instructor in Tactical Response and Deployment. He
was co-awarded the San Pablo Police Department's first Medal of Valor in 1979; and
WIIERF.AS, over the course of his 33 years with the San Pablo Police, Cllief Aita has watched the
department nearly double in size. Ile and his wife, Diane, are the longest married couple employed by the
City of San Pablo in the city's history, with a combined service record of 60 years; and
WIIEREAS, Chief Aita is a member of the Rejects Club and on the Board of Directors of the San Pablo
Chamber of Commerce. He has served as a AYSO youth soccer coach, enjoys annual fishing trips with Ills
dad and father-iii-law, doing projects around his house, and spending time with his family; and
NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors congratulates Chief Joseph
Alta being named the San Pablo Chamber of Commerce 2007 Man of the Year and for lhis dedicated service
to Ills conmiullity.
