HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012005 - 2005-383 C�2 IN THE MATTER OF HONORING RESOLUTION NO. 2005/383 CHIEF RON ACE FOR HIS THIR'T'Y YEARS OF SERVICE WHEREAS,Chief Ron Ace will retire from die Concord Police Department sifter more than 30 years of dedicated service with die City of Concord;and WHEREAS,Chief Ron Ace served in the U.S.Marine Corps from 1967 through 1971 with a tour of duty in Viet Nam in 1969,attached to a'Huey Gunship:helicopter squadron as a door-gunner;and WHEREAS,Chief Ron Ace served as a Deputy Sheriff with Alameda County from 1973 to 1975;and WHEREAS,Chief Ron Ace began his dedicated service with the Concord Police Department in 1975,serving in a variety of positions. He was promoted in 1985 to Police Sergeant,promoted to Lieutenant in 1995,serving as the Southern District Community PolicmgComtnAncder,opening And.cverseeing the City's first district field office. He also served as SWAT Team Coiitiiatder. in=.19r$,,lievtts prbinoted ter Captain and placed in command of the Field Operations Division,with 115 officers and 30 civiliansudder his leadership,including Uniform Patrol,Traffic, Special Enforcement,f ail Opet-ations and the three District'Commands-,",arid WHEREAS,Chief Rein Ace was appointed to the position of Chief of'Police of the Concord Police Department in 1999,and as Chief has.been instrumehtal in the development and evolution otC.oncord's generalist model of community policing.'Because of the Police Departmenes success,the City of Concord has integrated the philosophy of community policing throughout the city,resulting in a.true Community Oriented Government model. He has been active in the community n:srhocrl actiies,youth,spiits}and public service agencies,and he has served as a Board Member and President of1-4ew°Connecticiiils a substance abuse prevention and counseling Agency; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County recognizes Chief Ron Ace for a lifetime of outstanding service and wishes him and his family happiness and success in all future endeavors.
