HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012005 - 2005-282 RFSOLU77ON HONORING RESOLUTION NO. 2003/282 ELLN LANGLEY'AS THE 200S MORA GA CITIZEN OF THE YEAR WHEREAS, Mr. Langley, a native of Denver,'Colorado,and an Army Air Force veteran of World War II,has been a resident of the Town of Moraga since 1972; and WHEREAS, During his 40 year professional career with PG&E,Mr. Langley rose from the position of Payroll Clerk to Executive Vice President and WHEREAS, While working full-time and taking care of his family,he earned his degree in business from the evening program at Saint Mary's College,graduating in 1979,because,as he said,"I wanted to make sure I understood what the financial boys were telling me"; and WHEREAS, While Mr. Langley was initially inspired to get involved with his community because it was mandated by his employer, it soon became second nature to him,as he became aii active and supportive member of the Kiwanis Club of Moraga Valley,the St. Vincent De Paul'Society,Goodwill Industries,the 1Vloraga Parks&Recreation Foundation,and other organizations;and WHEREAS, Mr. Langley is,described as tieing good at getting people to pitch in,and that he"is a great arm-twister—in a very nice sort of way,though"; and WHEREAS, Mr.Langley,created and endowed the Lee Ann Langley Scholarship Fund in memory, of his wife, the first such scholarship for the benefit of students in the School of Education at Saint Mary's College; and WHEREAS, Mr.Langley has been a longtime supporter and Board member of the Hearst Art Gallery at Saint Mary's College;and WHEREAS,'Mr.Langley prefers small-town life,loves living in Moraga,and continues to find wads to share his talents, skills and passions with fellow residents and with people outside of Moraga who need his help. NOW, THEREFO E, BE'IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby honors FOR HIS DEWCA TION T4 THE CITIZENS AND THE TOWN OF 1VfflRAGA PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors members present`s 10th day of May,2005 JOHN GI©IA MARY N.
