RESOLUTION HONORING BARBARA RESOLUTION NO. 20{)4140
RIVARA UPON HER .RETIREMENT
FROM THE CITY CLERK POSITION !
IN THE CITY OF WALNUT CREEK

WHEREAS, Barbara Rivara served as a commendable City Clerk through a lengthy period of
f� distinguished service to the City of Walnut Creek and its citizens in the performance of her dedicated work; f
! and

j WHEREAS, Barbara Rivara's continued involvement with Walnut Creek government encapsulated a
period of over 21 years in city service which is the second longest tenure in Walnut Creek's 89 year history;
and
i
WHEREAS, Barbara Rivara, utilizing her well known creativity, designed the City of Walnut Creek's
glorious flag; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Rivara's commitment and excellence is acknowledged through her activities at state
levels, which include her two year terms as Trustee of the City Clerk's Association of California and
serving as corresponding secretary for Northern California City Clerk's Association; and

WHEREAS, January 23,2004 marks Barbara Rivara's retirement from the position of City'Clerk of
Walnut Creek; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does
hereby commend Barbara Rivara for her impressive endeavors and public service. '
PASSED by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors this 13th day of January,2004.
