HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012004 - 2004-035 IN RECOGNITION OF THE ERIC RESOLUTION NO.2004/35 ALEXANDER REWARD FUND WHEREAS,Eric Alexander played football for El Cerrito High School and Los Medanos College; and WHEREAS, Eric Alexander coached a youth recreational football team in his home neighborhood of southeast Richmond; and WHEREAS,Eric Alexander volunteered for community events with the 'West Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau,which his mother directs; and WHEREAS,Eric Alexander worked for the United States Post Office; and WHEREAS,Eric Alexander had earned nearly enough college credits for a degree;and WHEREAS,Eric Alexander was killed by gunfire in Richmond on January 4,2004; WHEREAS,Eric Alexander was the city's first homicide victim of the year; and WHEREAS,the Richmond community is working with the Richmond Police Department to solve Eric Alexander's murder; and WHEREAS,an Eric Alexander Reward Fund has been established at Mechanics Bank in Richmond to help law enforcement make an arrest and conviction in the case; and WHEREAS,the Richmond Police Department is eligible to receive matching funds from the state for the Eric Alexander Reward Fund; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Eric Alexander,and announces the establishment of the Eric Alexander Reward Fund,via Ms. Rea Parks,Manager, the Mechanics Bank, 3170 Hilltop Mall Road,Richmond, 94806.
