ROE FROM COUNTY SERVICE AS THE ) RESOLUTION NO.2004/111 EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR) WHEREAS, Sherry L. Roe, Executive Assistant to the County Administrator, is retiring after completion of over 37 years of service to Contra Costa County,it is appropriate to publicly recognize her professionalism and dedicated service;and WHEREAS, Sherry began her career in County government on July 6, 1966 as a Stenographer Clerk in the Public Works Department;and WHEREAS,Sherry advanced in her career over the next nine years until July 1,1975,when she promoted to Secretary to the County Administrator and began working for Art Will and other County Administrators including Phil Batchelor for 17 years until his retirement in 20€11 and culminating her career working with John Sweeten;and WHEREAS,Sherry has for many years held a unique,vital and demanding position,requiring exceptional interpersonal skills, poise, and the ability to communicate effectively in dealing with both government officials and the general public. Sherry has accomplished her job with integrity and has always shown a respect and compassion for others while perforating her assigned duties and responsibilities;and WHEREAS,Sherry has played not only an integral part in accomplishing the mission of County government and the County Administrator's Office,but has also contributed to the operation and general well being of the office,particularly through her willingness to help others,her positive attitude and her exemplary work ethic;and WHEREAS,Sherry has worked for five County Administrators: Art Will,Mel Wingett,Chuck Dixon, Phil Batchelor and John Sweeten. During a 29-year period, she has played an integral part in assisting top management in the continuing development of Contra Costa County government to be recognized as a leading county in theSState and nation during the latter part of the 20th Century and into the 21st Century,and during a period of unprecedented change and improvement; and WHEREAS,Sherry,throughout her outstanding professional career in the workplace,was able to balance the demands of work and family successfully in both arenas;and WHEREAS,Sherry stands as a role model for public employees and commitment to public service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS congratulates Sherry L.Roe on the occasion of her retirement,offers generous thanks for a lob well done for the County and its citizens,and wishes her well in whatever endeavors she chooses.
