HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012004 - 2004-101 IN THE MATTER OFREC'OGNIZING ) the contributions of Carol Chan on her ) Retirement from Contra Costa County ) RESOLUTION NO. 2004/101 WHEREAS, Carol Chan began her career with Contra Costa County in March, 1977, in the Planning Department;having come from Alameda County where she worked as a Social Worker;and WHEREAS, since 1977, Carol has worked in the Planning Department (1977-1980), County Administrator's Office(1980-1980 & 1990-1998), Social Services(1986-1990)and General Services(1998- 2004),and was promoted to be the County's Lease Manager in July,2001;and WHEREAS, Carol exemplifies the caliber of employee that puts Contra Costa County in the forefront of good government;.and WHEREAS, Carol has applied a wide variety of skills to the various positions she has held throughout her tenure with the County;and WHEREAS, Carol has used her strong technical knowledge and administrative skills in the areas of planning community and county projects; personnel work; budgeting; developing building and remodeling projects; capital facilities financing; and more recently in preparing, executing and managing leases for the County;and financing and developing new sites for County departments;and WHEREAS,Carol performs her work for the General Services Department and the County with a personal commitment to integrity and honesty; is knowledgeable,tenacious,conscientious and dedicated,and WHEREAS,Carol willingly and enthusiastically works beyond the scope of her job classification, using her depth of institutional knowledge, her strength of character, straightforwardness and the respect she has earned over the past 27 years and applies them to other areas of County business; and WHEREAS,Carol was given an "Award of Excellence"by the Public Works Department in June, 2003, for her work on negotiating financing and finalizing a lease and lease-back agreement for the Airport; and WHEREAS,Carol will now be able to devote herself full-time to, among other interests, being the Capo of the Martinez"What's the PointT'bocce ball team; and WHEREAS, Carol has earned the privilege of retiring to pursue travel and personal interests with her husband and two children. IT IS BY THE BOARD RESOLVED THAT Carol Chan be recognized for over 27 years of service to Contra Costa County and for the high quality of work performed by her during her career.
