HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09092004 - 71-197 IH THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE 4r CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Planting } on Hajar Road Projects. } RESOLUTION NO. 71/197 } WHEREAS the Board on March 9, 1971 referred the report of the Public Jerks Director making recommendations concerning Planting or Major Road Projects, to its County Government Operations Committee (Supervisors A. M. Dias and W. N. Boggess) for revision and report; and WHEREAS the Committee reported that it had reviewed the mat- ter ;,with. the Public Works Director and recommends approval of the report with some additional conditions; and WHEREAS the Board shares the increasing public concern for preserving the environments and finds that the proposal is consistent with the intent of the new Environmenta'! duality Act passed by, the 1970 State1egisla.ture; is in the interest of minimizing any adverse effects of road projects on the environment of the area; and is in line with the Board' s basic policy that aesthetics be considered in public works projects; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that it shall be the policy of the Board to authorize planting of trees and other plants to substitute for trees and ether desirable plants which are removed on major road improvementcpro jects, subject to the following; conditions: 1. Planting will be limited to thoroughfares and arterials as shown on "The County Major Roads Plan"; 2. Plants will be nursery size stock (one and five ill on sizes ) - not large specimen. transplanting; 3. Maintenance of planting must be assured by an appropriate service area; and 4. Any exceptions from ,this policy due to special or unusual circumstances shall be subject to approval by the Board of Supervisors. PASSED and ADOPTED this 23rd day of Larch, 1971 by the follow- ing vote of the Board': AYES: Supervisors A. M. Dias, J. E. Moriarty, W. N. Boggess, E. A. Linscheid, J. P. Xenny. NOES None. ABSENT.
