HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09092004 - 71-096 IPS THE BOARD OF SUP'ERV'ISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Platter of Proclai*mine � Friday', February 12, 1971 } RESOLUTION PEER 71, 96 Through Monday, February 15, � 1971 as Pacific Association AAU Basketball, Tourney Days } WHEREAS the County of Centra Costa and specifically the City of 1-lartinez has been chosen as the site of the 63rd Annual Pacific Association A kU 'Basketball Tourney; and ICERE S said tourney will be held at the Alhambra High School Gymnasium between Friday, .February 12: 1971 through Monday, February 15, 1971 under ,the sponsorship of the Martinez Area Chamber of Commerce, and 14HEREAS this 1971 tourney .for the first time in the history of the event is being staged outside metropolitan SanFrancisco; and: WHEREAS the County and the City will be represented in the tourney by the Martinez Mui.rs as the host team whi c"c. will compete against high ranking amateur teams .from. San. Jose to the Oregon border and an out of state team from Reno, Nevada,* and T,giF.P EAS the winner of said tourney will represent the Pacific Association in competition which will culminate in the National AAU Tourney to be held in Kentucky; and ,,,THEREAS all proceeds from the local tourney will be ear- marked for the "6 Little Girls Medical Fund" to help pay for the medical care of said six girls who were involved in a tragic automobile accident on the P artinez-Benicia Bridge.- NOW, ridge;NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it does hereby proclaim Friday, February 12, 1971 through Monday, February 15, 1971 as Pacific Association AAU Tourney Days. BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that it urges all sports fens in Contra. Costa County and surrounding areas to attend said tourney and insure its success for the benefit of the., "6 Little Girls Medical Fund." PASSED and ADOPTED this 9th day of :February, 1971 by the fallowing vote. AYES: Supervisors A. M. Dias,_ J. E. Moriarty, W. N. Boggess, E. A. Linscheid, J. P. Kenny. NOES: None. ABSENT: None.
