HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012003 - 2003-608 c_ 7/7� M In the Matter of Recognizing Stephen L.Weir For Earning Accreditation as a Certified Elections/Registration Administrator RESOLUTION NO.2003/608 WHEREAS Certified Elections/Registration Administrator(CERA)designation is achieved only through a multi-year course of study conducted by the Election Center's Professional Education Program, including courses on ethics, voter registration, elections law,planning, communication, and voter participation; and WHEREAS the Professional Education Program Was recognized in 1996 as the top continuing education program in America by the National University Continuing Education Association; and WHEREAS CERA is the highest designation available to elections and voter registration officials; and WHEREAS of more than 21,000 elections and voter registration officials through America,only 240 have achieved the CERA status; and WHEREAS the CERA designation is the culmination of many years of study and training,and is important in promoting and preserving public trust in the democratic process; and WHEREAS Contra Costa County is truly fortunate to have Stephen L,Weir,Clem:-Recorder and County Registrar of Voters, as one of the top designated elections professionals in America; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes,commends, and congratulates Stephen L. Weir on achieving the CERA designation, and expresses its appreciation to Mr, Weir for raising the standard for elections and voter registration administration in Contra Costa County. PASSED AND ADOPTED ON October 14, 2003 by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.
