In the Matter of Resolution No. 20031526
RECOGNIZING ANIS HONORING WALTER RVEHLIG
FOR SERVING ON THE CONTRA`COSTA COUNTY
HUMANS RELATIONS COMMISSION FOR FIVE YEARS
WHEREAS, Commissioner Walter Reuhlig has served five years on the Contra Costa
County Human Relations Commission with an almost perfect attendance record, missing only
one meeting during his tenure; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure he served as the 2000-2001 Chairperson where he made
significant contributions to the Commission and the community, and was very successful in
recruiting other residents to serve on the Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ruehlig initiated the first Season of Non-Violence Peace event in the
City of Antioch that included an interfaith candle lighting ceremony and was attended by
approximately 150 residents; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ruehlig was also one of the key planners for the Stop the Violence
Seminar held in 2000, which was filmed and aired on Contra Costa Television throughout the
year; and
WHEREAS, throughout his tenure on the Contra Costa County Human Relations
Commission, Mr. Ruehlig has earned the respect, admiration, and high regard of all those with
whom he has come into contact and who are proud to call him friend.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County hereby extends its sincere congratulations to Walter Ruehlig for serving on the
Contra Costa County Human Relations Commission for five years and best wishes for his future
endeavors.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 7th day of October, 2003.
