HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012003 - 2003-463 ,__W In the Matter of Endorsing the Resolution No. 20031463 Budget Accountability Act WHEREAS the two-thirds vote requirement to pass a state budget and related taxes fails to keep spending in check, while at the same time promoting gridlock, pork barrel legislation, and a lack of accountability that creates persistent late budgets and large deficits; and, WHEREAS partisan gridlock leads to huge deficits in weak economic times that force the Governor and Legislature to make massive cuts in education, health care, transportation, and other essential public services and raise billions of dollars in taxes; and, WHEREAS the Budget Accountability Act will enact a comprehensive reform of the State budget process that will hold the Governor and the Legislature more accountable to the People of California; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors hereby endorses the Budget Accountability Act.
