Steve Steinbrecher, Chief Information Officer } RESOLUTION NO, 2003/457
WHEREAS Steven A. Steinbrecher will retire on July 31, 2003 from the position of Chief
Information Officer of Contra Costa County;and
WHEREAS Steven A.Steinbrecher joined the Department of Information Technology(DoM as
a Director Of Data Processing Services on June 5,1995,where he earned a reputation as a provider of
cost effective automation and telecommunications solutions for County departments and special
districts;and
WHEREAS under Steven A.Stembrecher's leadership,DoIT established a County gide Area
Network that provides intradepartmental connectivity and Internet access through network security
that protects departments from unauthorized entry;and
WHEREAS, Steven A. Steinbrecher's vision has shaped the organizational structure and
direction of DoIT through his creation of specialized units to service the needs of the County,and his
emphasis on teamwork,integrity,accountability,and responsibility throughout the chain of command,
which has earned him the loyalty and respect of all who have worked for him; and
WHEREAS,Steven A.Steinbrecher has led Contra Costa County through Y2K and into the new
millennium with his leadership and vision to:make Contra Costa County a national leader in technology
innovation;and
WHEREAS Steven A.Steinbrecher's stature in the information technology community has been
demonstrated by his involvement in the California Counties Information Systems Director's
Association,Metropolitan Information Exchange,Government Technology Conference and the Contra
Costa Incubator;and
WHEREAS Steven A.Steinbrecher serves as an inspiration to all who know himfor his personal
and professional courage,always adhering to moral principles,regardless of the risks involved;and
WHEREAS,Steven A.Steinbrecher has left a legacy of hard work,team spirit,moral fortitude,
unwavering dedication,and a commitment to provide Contra Costa County with the best automation
and communications services,throughout his eight years of public service with the County;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that this Board takes great pleasure in congratulating
Steven A.Steinbrecher on his valuable service to the community,his profession,and to Contra Costa
County,and wishes him many wonderful,exciting,and fulfilling years of retirement.
