INSPECTOR RAYMOND J. GIACO.MELLI
IN NAMING THE STATE ROUTE 41LOVERIDGE
0VER CROSSING IN HIS HONOR RESOLUTION NO, 20031359
WHEREAS, Inspector Raymond J. Giacomelli of the Pittsburg Police Department was
killed on April 15, 2003, while in the performance ref his duty to the citizens he was sworn to
protect; and
WHEREAS, Inspector Giacomelli was an honored and respected member of the
Pittsburg's Police Department for the past twenty-three years by his fellow officers, citizens of
the City of Pittsburg and by the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department; and
WHEREAS, in addition to providing for his family a legacy of wit, wisdom, and love
throughout the years, Inspector Giacomelli found time to devote countless hours serving his
community, and
WHEREAS, his dedicated interest and devotion to duty had a valuable effect on all who
worked with him and had earned him the respect of all with whom he came into contact, along
with the love and affection of a host of friends; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to memorialize Inspector Giacomelli's sacrifice by naming
the State Route4lLoveridge Road Overcrossing in his honor, and to remember the sacrifices
made by the California Peace Officers across the State who risk their lives daily to protect our
communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa
County, hereby proclaim their support of honoring Inspector Raymond J Giacomelli in naming
the State Route 4ILoveridge Overcrossing as a fitting, lasting and f nal tribute to the memory of
a fallen officer.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 2nd day of June,
2003.
