Foster Parent Recognition Month In ) RESOLUTION NO,2003/271
Contra Costa County }
Wkereas, the American family, serving as the primary source of love, identity, self-esteem, and
support, is the very foundation of our communities and our nation, and
Whereas, there are currently 2,.25.5 children in foster care in Contra Costa County due to problems of
abuse and neglect who need the temporary safety and security of a stable,foster famr`ly until they can
achieve a safe,permanent family environment, and
Whereas, emergency foster families open their homes and hearts to these children in crisis, often in
the middle of the night and without notice, comforting and holding these firightened and confused
children, and
Whereas, over 421 foster families in Contra Costa County dedicate themselves to providing these
children with the love and values that help prepare them for responsible adult living, and
Whereas, tuerouspublic andprivate agencies work to increase the public's awareness of the needs
of children infoster care and the enduring and valuable contribution ref foster parents.
Now, t be it r&olved that the Board of Supervisorsdeclares May 2003 as.FOS'T'ER
PARENT RECOGNITION ff in Contra Costa County,
PASSED'by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors members present this 13`h day of May 2003.
