HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012003 - 2003-268 In the .Matter of Declaring ) May 2003 as Drowning Prevention Month � In Contra Costa County ) RESOLUTION NO. 20031268 WHEREAS, summer is approaching and people will soon be spending warm sunny days outside in their yards and pools; and WHEREAS, tragically, summertime is also associated with increasing numbers of drowning incidents; and WHEREAS, children under the age of jive are especially vulnerable to drowning deaths and injuries associated with near drowning incidents; and WHEREAS, raising community awareness about swimming pool safety is critical for the protection of our children from preventable drownings; and C%GWEREA$ the Drowning Prevention Foundation in cooperation with the Contra Costa County Childhood Injury Prevention Coalition will conduct a drowning prevention educational outreach campaign in the spring and summer of 2003 through Labor Day; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESDEVED that the Board of Supervisors does hereby declare May 2003 as Drowning Prevention Month in Contra Costa County and urge all citizens to become aware of the problems and learn how to eliminate them PASSED AND A.1 OI''1 ED on May 6, 2003 by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.
