In the matter of volunteers in the County Departments
as recognition and praise for their efforts
RESOLUTION NO. 2003/257
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes that volunteers are of special importance to
the citizens of Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, the Animal Services Department had 15,867 volunteer hours used to provide
services during 2002; and
WHEREAS,the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center had 24,306 volunteer hours used to
provide services during 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Friends of the Library had 40,959 volunteer hours used to
provide services during 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Project Second Chance program of the Library had 9,627 volunteer hours
used to provide services during 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Library Volunteer Program had 38,229 volunteer hours
used to provide services during 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Volunteers for Juvenile Hall had 4,350 volunteer hours used to provide
services during 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Probation Department had 3,037 volunteer hours used
to provide services during 2003; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff-Coroner's Department had 47,158 volunteer hours used to provide
services during 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Employment and Human Services Department had 86,011 hours used to
provide services during 2002; and
WHEREAS, these was a combined total of 277,544 volunteer hours provided during 2002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa
County recognizes and praises the aforementioned programs and departments for their selfless efforts
and outstanding spirit for securing this high amount of volunteer hours in Contra Costa County.
