HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012003 - 2003-190 IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING ) the contributions of Linda Moulton on the ) occasion of her Retirement from the ) Community Development Department } RESOLUTION NO. 2003/190 WHEREAS Linda Moulton began her career with Contra Costa County on January 14, 1980,working as the County Demographer; and WHEREAS in 1984 Linda attained,her doctorate in the field of demography; and WHEREAS during Linda's career she shepherded the County,through three censuses (1980, 1990 and 2000) including-coordinating census boundaries with the US Census Bureau, and assisting,`County employees and the public withgaining access to and understanding the census da , and WHEREAS due to her significant demographic and statistical skills Linda was called as an expert witness in trials related to analyzing alleged minority exclusion in jury selections subsequent to the 1980 Census; and WHEREAS Linda worked diligently to assure public participation as well as technical excellence 'while conducting three redistricting processes (1981, 1991 and 2001} for the Contra Coster County Board of Supervisors; and WHEREAS Linda= pirovided outstanding support for the preservation of affordable housing as the County's Mobilehome Rent Review Officer and staff to the Mobilehome Advisory Committee;:b+ n riftg.in Jaanut1997; and WHEREAS Linda was instrumental in.the County's efforts to achieve State mandated waste reduction and recycling goals,when she took on additional responsibilities In early 1997 related`to overseeing the County's solid waste/recycling collection franchise agreements including instituting expanded recycling curbside services'and conducting mite reviews; and WHEREAS although Linda has always willingly'shared her knowledge with her peers, the loss of her expertise end wisdom will leave a definite void at the Community Development Department; and WHEREAS in addition to her diligence in her work efforts, Linda has distinguished herself as an accomplished hiker by hiking to the highest point in every County in the State of California; and WHEREAS upon her retirement Linda°Moulton can dedicate more time to doing the things she loves, including hiking and world travel. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors does hereby recognize and honor Linda Moulton for her 23 years of service on the occasion of her retirement, and thanks her for her dedicated service to the Community Development Department and the people of this County. PASSED by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors members present this tat day of April, 2003.
