HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012003 - 2003-155 67/ 7 IN RECOGNITION OF THE DEDICATION RESOLUTION NO. 2003/155 AND EXEMPLARY SERVICE OF DORIS DENSON-BELCHER WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher has worked for the West Contra Costa Unified School District for 25 years; and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher served for six years as a Court Appointed Special Representative for children in the Contra Costa County Juvenile Courts;and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher was on the organizing committee for the City of Richmond's Disabled Person's Recreation Center;and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher serves as an advocate for people who are developmentally challenged through a contract between the county and the West Contra Costa Unified School.District; and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher is chair of the Contra Costa County Commission for Women;and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher chairs the commission's subcommittee that coordinates the Women's Hall of Fame Awards Dinner°,and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher is president of the Richmond Branch of the NAACP;and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher moved to Richmond from Memphis in 1965;and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher attended Contra Costa Community College, San Francisco State University, and the University of California at Berkeley; and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher is married to Richmond City Council member Rev.Charles Belcher;and WHEREAS,Doris Denson-Belcher is the mother of four and grandmother of six children; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby recognizes the tireless contributions of Doris Denson-Belcher to the people of West Contra Costa.
