JJ In the Matter of Resolution No.20021685 RECOGNIZING THE BAYPOINT TEEN VIDEO PROJECT FOR WINNING THE "BEST OF FESTIVAL AWARD" AT THE BERKELEY VIDEO AND FILM FESTIVAL. WHEREAS, on Saturday, November 2, 2002, the Bay Point Teen Video Project was honored as the "Best of Festival Award"at the 2002 Berkeley Video and Film Festival for its documentary film entitled An Exploration of Our History: The Story of East Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, the film chronicles the rich history of East Contra Costa County from 1900-1944 and was produced through a collaboration between Bay Point Works, an initiative of the Contra Costa County Service Integration Program, and Athletes United for Peace (A UP), a Berkeley non-profit organization; and WHEREAS, the documentary is the final group project of eleven Bay Point teens that participated in a ten-week media arts program during the SummerlFall of 2001; and WHEREAS, the Bay Point Teen Video Project offers youth multimedia skills training, work experience as video production assistants, and an opportunity to document and preserve the rich history of their community; and WHEREAS, the film "An Exploration of Our History: The Story of East Contra Costa County" is Part 2 of an award-winning documentary film series that chronicles the community's rich history from both social and economic perspectives; and WHEREAS, Doug Harris, Executive Director of Athletes Unitedfor Peace, and Bay Point Works, an initiative of the Contra Costa County Service Integration Program, brilliantly helped and mentored the community of Bay Point and its youth throughout this project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby support the efforts forts the Bay Point Teen Video Project and congratulates the eleven Bay Point Teens for successfully completing this project and winning the "Best of Festival Award"at the Berkeley Video and Film Festival on November 2, 2042.
