GeIurge Miller III Head Start Child Development Center RESOLUTION NO. 2002/680
W WHEREAS, Congressman George Miller has been a tireless advocate for bettering the lives of children
ars families in Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, Congressman George Miller has unflaggingly supported the Contra Costa County
Community Services Department Head Start Program, helping preschool children from low-income
fnilies benefit from a comprehensive program that meets emotional, social, health, nutritional, and
pychological needs; and
WHEREAS, Congressman George Miller helped Contra Costa County secure Head Start funds to
bc,ild a new state-of-the-art child development center in Richmond, California in collaboration with the
461tosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Park"historic landmark renovation;
NkIMEREAS, the aforementioned child development center will be a national model for excellence in
cf,ild development and early education facilities for generations to come;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that out of appreciation for meritorious service to Contra
Casta County, the building at 2730 Maine Avenue in Richmond site shall officially be named The
CIeorge Miller III Head Start Child Development Center.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON November 12,2002 by a unanimous vote ofthe Board members present.
