WHEREAS schools and childcare facilities throughout Contra Costa County are invited
to participate in an All School Drill on October 2'd
WHEREAS The Contra Costa Community Awareness and Emergency Response Group
CAER.-is sponsoring the All School Drill and assisting schools with their emergency preparedness
WHEREAS Emergency Response Agencies including police, fire, sheriff and emergency services
agree that Shelter-In-Place is the recommended action in case of a chemical release
WHEREAS the All School Drill will increase public awareness about Shelter-In-Place as a
protective action and will teach students throughout the county about this important procedure
WHEREAS the County Office of Education has endorsed the All School Drill and encouraged all
facilities to participate
WHEREAS the Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services supports the All School Drill and will
continue to encourage the Shelter-In-Place message
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THIS Board of Supervisors does hereby make
known and declare October 2, 2002 as:
CAER Countywide Schools Shelter-In-Place.Education Day
