THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Resolution on May 21, 2002, by the following vote:
AYES: SUPERVISOR UILKEMA, GERBER, DeSAULNIER, GLOVER, AND GIOIA

ABSTAIN: NONE
Resolution No. 2002/ 835
Subject: Victim/Witness Assistance Program
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa has designated the
Contra Costa County Victim/Witness Assistance Program as the provider of major and
comprehensive victim and witness services in Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, the Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board has selected the
Contra Costa County Victim/Witness Assistance Program to receive"Joint Powers"monies for
the purpose of verification of victim claims; and
WHEREAS, the Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board has allocated
$859,794 for two years and modified the term to June 30, 2003 for the Contra Costa County
Victim/Witness Assistance Program for this specific task;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that County Probation Officer
Steven L. Bautista of the County of Contra Costa is authorized, on its behalf, to sign the
attached Joint Powers Agreement with the Victim Compensation and Government Claims
Board to receive monies to operate a Victim/Witness Assistance Center and is further
authorized to sign for the purposes of making any extension or amendment thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the State funds received hereunder shall not
be used to supplant local funds that would, in the absence of the California
Victim/Witness Assistance Program, be made available to support assistance to
the victims of crime.
