of Contra Costa County
In the Matter of Resolution NO2002/327
TO COMMEMORATE THE
25th ANNIVERSARY OF
EASTERN CONTRA COSTA
TRANSIT AUTHORITYAND
TRI DELTA TRANSIT
WHEREAS, the Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority has consistently worked to
respond effectively to the specific transportation needs of the Eastern Contra Costa community
and is therefore deserving of special of public recognition and the highest commendations; and
WHEREAS, the Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority (ECCTA) and Tri Delta
Transit was formed in 1977 by ajoint powers agreement signed by County of Contra Costa and
the Cities of Antioch, Pittsburg, and Brentwood, adding the new City of Oakley in 2000,for the
purpose of providing public transportation to the citizens of Eastern Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, public transportation is vital to the quality of life and economic well being
of the citizens of this County,providing the potential to create fobs and enhance business
prosperity, alleviating traffic congestion and loss of productive time; and
WHEREAS, public transportation helps reduce the risky to the health of our citizens
and the environment by reducing automobile exhaust, emissions; and
WHEREAS, the Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority and Tri Delta Transit has been
an established public service agency for twenty-five years (1977-2002).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa
County, hereby proclaims June 7, 2002 as the 2P Anniversary Celebration of the Eastern
Contra Costa Transit Authority(ECCTA) and Tri Delta Transit and extend sincere
congratulations.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 21st day of May,
2002.
