Home My WebLink AboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012002 - 2002-236 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopt this Order on July o 1002 , by the following vote: AYES: SUPERVISORS UILM%, GERBER, DESAULNIER, GLOVER and GIOIA NOES: NONE ABSENT: NONE ABSTAIN: NONE SUBJECT: Forensic Services Fees RESOLUTION OF THE GOVERNING BOARD Resolution. #2002/236 WHEREAS, the Forensic Services Division of the Office of the Sheriff provides forensic services to the law enforcement agencies in Contra Costa County and elsewhere; and VliREREAS, in fiscal year 1994/1995 a fee schedule was established to recover the costs of providing services to laboratory clients; and WHEREAS, the Forensic Services Division has experienced increases in costs for salaries and supply costs since the implementation of the 2000/2001 fee schedule currently in use. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that effective July 1, 2002, the attached fee schedule dated July 1, 2002, be presented as the fee schedule by which forensic services will be provided by Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff, Forensic Services Division, and that this resolution supersedes and replaces any prior Forensic Services Division fee schedules approved by the Board. CONDUCT a Public Hearing to adjust service fees for the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division effective July 9, 2002. 2. CLOSE Public Hearing, ADOPT Resolution Number 2002/236 effecting the fee adjustments. If. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The adoption of the attached Resolution will allow the County to recover the costs associated with the listed activities in the Fee Schedule dated July 1, 2002. III. BACKGROUND/REASON(S,) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): In the 1994-95 fiscal year, the Forensic Services Division was required to cover costs of all services from laboratory users. A fee schedule was established defining the costs of evidence examination services for the users of laboratory services. The Forensic Services Division has experienced increases in costs for salaries, and supply costs since the implementation of the 2000/2001 fee schedule currently in use. This action supersedes any prior evidence examination fees set by the Board. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Negative action will result in insufficient revenue to offset the cost of these activities. The County Will bear the burden of the increased cost of providing laboratory examination services to law enforcement agencies and other entities requesting service.
