SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION Resolution No. 20021163
RECt3MMENDATION:
1. REALLOCATE the salaries of the After School Program classifications effective April 1, 2001, as follows:
After School Program Teacher-Project (V9W4) from M50-1473 ($1,981-$2,408) to M50-1531 ($2,100-
$2,552)
After School Program Supervisor-Project (V9H1) from M50-1736 ($2,577-$3,133) to M50-1794 ($2,731-
$3,319)
2. ESTABLISH the classification of After School Program Supervisor (V9HH) at salary level M50-1794
($2,731-$3,319); TRANSFER two project positions (9288, 9289) into the Merit System classification;
ABANDON the classification of After School Program Supervisor-Project (V91-11) effective September 19,
2001:
3. REALLOCATE the salaries of the After School Program classifications effective October 1, 2001, to reflect
the negotiated four percent (4%) Cast of Living Adjustment (COLA) as follows:
After School Program Teacher-Project (V9W4) from M50-1531 ($2,100-$2,552) to M50-1571 ($2,185-
$2,656)
After School Program Supervisor(V9HH) from M50-1794 ($2,731-3,319)to M50-1834 ($2,842-$3,455)
4. ESTABLISH the classification of After School Program Teacher (V9WJ) at salary level M50-1571 ($2,185-
$2,656) and TRANSFER the following twenty-three project positions into the Merit System classification
effective January 1, 2002:
9276, 9277, 9278, 9279, 9280, 9281, 9282, 9283, 9284, 9285, 9286, 9287, 9290, 9291, 9294, 9295,
9296, 9298, 9299, 9300, 9302, 9303, 9304,
BACKGROUND:
The George Miller Centers are located within Contra Costa County's Health Services Department (Public
HealthDivision) and provide services to developmentally disabled individuals in Contra Costa County. These
services include an After School Program that is funded by the Regional Center for the East Bay (RCBE). The
After School Program positions were initially established on a project basis. The program has been successful
and will be funded on a permanent basis. Effective April 1, 2001, RCBE increased their rate per hour of service
by 15% for the After School Programs at the George Miller Centers. RCBE indicated that this additional
funding was to be applied toward staff wages and administr osts. '
