to Commemorate his Retirement ) RESOLLMON NO. 2002129
UWEREO .Lieutenant Jack M. Harper is retiring from the City of Pleasant Hill Police
Department; and
9MREA$ LiautenantJ'ack M. Harperls dedicated service included three years in the Army as
a Military Police Sergeant and a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Mountain View before
becoming a Police Officer with the City of Pleasant Hill in 1973; and
WhTREAS, he was promoted to the rank of Police Corporal in 1980, to Police Sergeant in 1982,
and Police Lieutenant in 1995; and
U ERE0 Lieutenant.Harper contributed to the betterment of the Department by earning both
AA and BA college degrees and with his Spanish speaking skills that were frequently called upon; and
RWEREAN his career has included assignments in the Investigations, Patrol, Traffic, and Training
Divisions; and
9WER AS Lieutenant Harper has been instrumental in thetraining of police recruits and
officers in Domestic Violence and in Ethics, and he has served on a number of local and state
commissions to promote better training on these important topics; and
WHEREAS, he has been actively involved in the community as a member of the Pleasant Hill Lions,
Fourth of July Commission, and CASA, and was twice President of the Police Association;
1VL7'W T EREFOR9 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors does hereby thank
with sincere appreciation .LieutenantJrack.t'i Hqrper for his 28 years of dedicated service to the
City of Pleasant Hill.
