BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): The proposal requests that the Local Agency Formation Commission detaches +/- 620 acres from the Contra Costa Fire Protection District and annex said territory to the Oakley Fire Protection District. The reason for the request is to correct overlapping jurisdictional boundaries and to prevent the duplication of services. The requested territory is within the City of Oakley. The reason for the request is to correct overlapping jurisdictional boundaries and to prevent the duplication of services. A plan for providing service is not needed, because this action is to correct overlapping boundaries, and it is categorically exempt from CEQA. The Board of Supervisors also requests that the sphere of influence (SOI) boundaries of both Districts be amended to reflect the corrected boundaries. Furthermore, the Board of Supervisors consents to the waiver of protest proceedings as outlined in the Cortese-Knox-Hertzberg Reorganization Act of 2000. The boundaries of the territory of the detachments and the annexation are set forth in Attachment A(map of area).
