CHIEF DEPUTY, CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
DISTRICT ATTORNEY, UPON HIS RETIREMENT
AFTER 30 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE RESOLUTION NO. 2001/553
WHEREAS,Dale A. Miller is retiring from his position as Chief Deputy District Attorney of Contra Costa County
on November 21, 2001. It is appropriate at this time to acknowledge his many achievements and to recognize publicly his
professional and civic leadership;and
WHEREAS,Dale began his career with the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office on February 1, 1971 as
a Deputy District Attorney I;rose quickly through the ranks and has been serving for twenty years in the executive leadership
of the Office;and
WHEREAS,Dale has loyally and faithfully served District Attorney William A. O'Malley and District Attorney
Gary T. Yancey and devoted over thirty years protecting the people of Contra Costa County as a prosecutor par
excellence; and
WHEREAS,Dale's professional conduct has always been above reproach,and has served and will continue to
serve as a model of professional ethics and demeanor; and
WHEREAS,Dale has earned the respect and admiration of the entire legal community,on both sides of the
Bench and at both tables,public and private,for his fairness and dedication to justice;and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Board takes great pleasure in congratulating Dale A.
Miller on his valuable service to the community,his profession and to Contra Costa County,and wishes him many
wonderful,exciting and fulfilling years of retirement.
PASSED by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors members present this 6th day of November, 2001.
