Retirement from contra costa county
RESOLUTION NO. 2001/41
WHEREAS Kathy Brown began her career with Contra Costa County on November 8, 1976, working
first as an Administrative Aide with the CETA Program and as a Personnel Analyst; and then transferring to the
Public Works Department as an Administrative Services Assistant III in June, 1982; and
WHEREAS in October 1985, the General Services Department was created and Kathy Brown
transferred to the new department and was promoted to Administrative Services Officer in 1986 and
subsequently promoted to Deputy General Services Director in October, 1989; and
WHEREAS during her tenure as a Deputy General Services Director, Kathy Brown has had
responsibility for the management of each and every division of the Department and has used her knowledge
and broad range of experience to provide outstanding customer service and innovative management solutions;
and
WHEREAS Kathy Brown has been fiscally conservative and conscientious in the administration of
County funds; has exemplified hard work, conscientiousness dedication and loyalty in the performance of her
duties, taking on many additional responsibilities willingly and enthusiastically; and
WHEREAS Kathy Brown has served on numerous committees within the County; has been a member
of the California Counties Facilities Services Association (CCFSA) since 1992; and has represented the County
on the executive board of the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) since May 8, 1996; and
WHEREAS Kathy Brown has received numerous commendations for outstanding customer service;
and was the recipient of the California State Association of Counties (CSAQ Merit Award in 1997 for her
outstanding leadership in developing the exemplary and innovative Waterbird Service Center for Contra Costa
County; and
WHEREAS Kathy Brown has passionately maintained commitment to the County and the Department
and has been unwavering in her dedication and support to the Departments staff,
IT IS BY THE BOARD RESOLVED THA TKathy Brown be recognized for over 24 years of service to
Contra Costa County and for the commitment and dedication she has shown to quality and service during her
career.
Passed and Adopted on February 6, 2001 by unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors of the
