Rupf, Sheriff-Coroner County DATE: September 11, 2001 SUBJECT: State Domestic Preparedness Equipment Program Application SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION 1. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2001/392 Authorizing the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to apply for a State Domestic Preparedness Equipment Program grant, and to execute a contract to accept such funding if awarded, in the amount of$13,071, to partially fund the cost of the cost of equipment, from July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2002. 11, FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. Expenditures and reimbursement revenues are included in the Sheriffs Office FY 2001/02 budget. Ill. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S).. The Operational Area of Contra Costa County performed a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) assessment and found the response agencies to be under equipped in the event of a WMD incident. A WMD grant steering committee was formed to use the assessment and establish a priorities list for the equipment that will be the most beneficial, both in the short term and long term, to the Operational Area. The plan looks at the county as a whole, establishing the procurement and storing of equipment for use by all areas of the county instead of dividing the money between cities and municipalities. The county has received grant monies from the program for several years.
