HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012001 - 2001-339 9w/no-0 i� RESOLUTION DECLARLING RESOLUTION NO. 2001/339 OCTOBER AS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH WHEREAS, Violence involving intimate partners, domestic violence, is widespread, crossing all ethnic, racial, age, national origin, sexual orientation, religious and socio-economic lines; and WHEREAS, Over 3 million children are exposed to family violence each year. Growing up in a violent family is a significant factor for youth violence; and WHEREAS, Violence is preventable-not inevitable; and WHEREAS, Residents of Contra Costa County have consistently said that community safety is their highest priority; and WHEREAS, The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors has implemented a resolution for Zero Tolerance for Domestic Violence; and WHEREAS, STAND! Against Domestic Violence mobilizes the community through a variety of collaborative efforts to provide domestic violence services in Contra Costa County, serving over 15,000 clients annually; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby recognize the important work done by STAND! Against Domestic Violence and recognizes October as PASSED BY A UNANIMOUS VOTE OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS THIS SEVENTH DAY OF AUGUST, 2001.
